Go Karts
Patong Go-kart Speedway operates a 750m challenging race track with a wide range of go-karts - including single karts, two-seater double carts, kids' karts and high speed super carts.
Helmets are of course provided, and there is floodlighting for evening races.
The track has a car park, restaurant and seating area for spectators.
It is open daily from 10.00am to 7.00pm. The speedway is located in Kathu, just over the hill from Patong.
Bungy jumping
The original bungy jump location has been in operation since 1992, in Kathu. It is a 50 meter jump over a picturesque lake, surrounded by lush jungle, just ten minutes from Patong on the road to Phuket city.
There is a purpose-built electronic lift rated for 750kg to take you to your bungy jump height in comfort and safety, and everyone from 40 to 230 kg are welcome to make the jump.
Couples may jump together if they desire.
Night bungy jumping and full moon parties can be arranged. Pick-up and return transport is available from anywhere in Phuket.
Non-jumpers can relax and watch the action from the garden bar. The Jungle Bungy Jump operates every day from 8.00am to 6.00pm whatever the weather.
Originally this jump site was the only licensed one in Thailand and the only insured site in Asia. The operation is highly technical, the equipment is of a high standard and the personnel are qualified Jump Masters.
A new bungy jump location has recently opened on the outskirts of Patong itself, at Soi Kebsap2 (junction of Sainamyen road and NaNai road).
Also at Patong Beach, near the Expat hotel, is a catapult (reverse) bungy operation, which opens in the evenings.
Mountain Biking
This is a great way to see the island. You don't have to be a professional. Many hotels provide mountain bikes to guests, and several local eco-tours include mountain biking as part of their activities.
On fully equiped bikes, you can cycle through rubber plantations, around pineapple fields, coconut groves, through local villages and beautiful valleys, explore the wooded interior of the island, or tour the coast.
Simply set yourself as strenuous or as relaxing route as you wish. There are half-day trips (typically 20 kms) and full day trips. Choose from very easy scenic trips to more challenging hardcore trips that include wild mountain trails and roads (and usually a support vehicle).
The island offers good well-surfaced roads, steep single track trails, mountains and big hills. There’s almost every type of terrain available on Phuket.
Phuket Horse Riding
The comfort and grace of horse riding is a fun and romantic way to explore Phuket's natural scenery. You can ride along excellent guided tour trails - marshland fields, groves of conifer trees, sandy beaches and in the vicinity of lagoons.
All riding clubs have well trained horses, with gentle horses available for children and beginners. Programmes are usually between 30 minutes to 2 hours.
For experienced riders, there are more varied trails. Professional instructors, guides and escorts are provided.

There are two riding clubs in Phuket:
Phuket Laguna Riding Club is the largest club with 65 Australian, Appaloosa & Thai horses, and offer facilities for beginners and experienced riders alike.
The are situated at the entrance to Laguna, Bang Tao, Cherng Talay ( Tel: 076 324199 ) Website: http://www.phuket-bangtao-horseriding.com
The Phuket Riding Club is situated at 95 Vises Road, Rawai. ( Tel: 076 76 288213 ).
ATV - All terrain vehicle tours
ATVs provide a great new fun way to explore the natural beauty of Phuket, local villages, farms, plantations and waterfalls. Although very popular in many Western countries, ATVs are relatively new to Thailand.
Typically 1 or 2 hour tours in Phuket are available using a 2WD ATV (ATV-150 sporty and utility). Further afield in Phang-Nga 3 hour ATV tours are available with 4WD ATV.
Safety equipment is of course provided. This includes the main protection of helmet with protective glasses, elbow protectors and knee protectors. Secondary protection includes boots and gloves. There are also less used tertiary items such as jacket and waist protector.

Phuket Shooting Ranges
There are two shooting ranges for hand guns and rifles in Phuket. They offer quite an interesting array of weapons including AK-47s, M-16s, Colt .45s, Smith and Wesson .38s, 9mms, and .22 magnums.
Bulls-eye, human and outdoor falling plate targets are available. The ammunitions used are special range bullets.
The fees vary according to the gun models and the quantity of bullets used. A target, gun, use of the range, bullets, ear protectors, insurance and instruction are included in the price.
The original Phuket Shooting Range is located at 82/2 Patak road ( 800 meters from Chalong roundabout on the Kata road).
A relatively new range, Kathu Shooting Range (Phuket), is located at 86/3 Soi Kathu Waterfall, Vichitsongkram Road, Kathu (near Loch Palm golfcourse and Kathu waterfall).
Rock Climbing and Abseiling
Quest Laguna Resort provides rock climbing and abseiling courses using a 15 metre tower with three faces (75 degree, vertical and overhang). After various climbs on the tower, instructors teach the technique of abseiling safely back to the ground.
For technical rock climbing, the world class limestone islands to the east of Phuket and in Phang Nga Bay are quite famous. The French grading system is typically used, with routes for all grades - beginners and experts alike. Try the islands of Ko Yai Noi, Ko Lo Lah, Ko Pak Bia and Ko La Ding.
Typically many of the climbs are accessible only by boat (traditional longtail boat, dinghy, or speedboat), while a few are approached via a jungle walk or even by abseiling above the sea.
Needless to say, always use a reliable experienced company.
The limestone cliffs of Krabi are extremely popular, challenging and beautiful (especially the headland between Phra Nang Cave and Railay East beach). There are several hundred routes, and instruction and guided climbs are readily available.
To see rock climbing in the raw, visit the Viking Cave at the Phi Phi islands, and watch the birds nest gatherers perform their dangerous task - no ropes, just bamboo scaffolding.
Sea Canoeing and Kayaking
Sea canoeing provides an amazing experience to explore the unique geology of the numerous verdant limestone karst islands of Phang Nga Bay and Krabi, which together are one of the world's most beautiful and dramatic landscapes.
This is the world of mangrove swamps, cliff-lined lagoons and sea caves (hongs) which can only be accessed by sea canoe.
Most of the islands are uninhabited and many are honeycombed with caves and hongs which is some cases can only be accessed at low tide. The hongs are actually collapsed cave systems which are open to the sky
and are surrounded by imposing limestone walls. The hongs have an abundance of flora and fauna. The experienced guide will paddle you through dark yet glittering caves to access the hongs.
Sea canoe trips are available as one-day tours or more extended tours. To make the most of the experience it often pays to be quite selective in terms of tour operators. The following are some of the
